Sunny Govan Community Radio
103.5 FM

Serving and providing access to the airwaves to underrepresented voices in Govan and throughout Glasgow.

Sunny Govan Community Radio is a unique grassroots not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, encouraging volunteering, training and development through the medium of community radio and aims to foster local traditions and provide services for the benefit, entertainment and development of our community.

Sunny Govan Radio was formed in 1998 and was based in the former police station in Orkney Street, Govan, Glasgow.

The group broadcast for two weeks using short-term RSLs during August 1998 bringing together people as diverse as Govan itself. Initially a one-off celebration of the G51 area but due to overwhelming support there was a clear demand for the service to continue.

Since then RSL broadcasts were undertaken annually on FM for the maximum permitted four weeks per period, the station has been webcasting continuously on the web since 2002.

In 2005 Sunny Govan Community Radio were successful in achieving a full time community radio licence as awarded by Ofcom following an application process. Sunny Govan Radio on 103.5 FM went on-air on 23 March 2007.

Sunny Govan Community Radio is committed to:
Providing access to the airwaves to underrepresented voices.
Being based at grassroots level and being established and run primarily by volunteers and activists.
Community development rather than profit.

Sunny Govan Radio - Your Station, Your Creation.Community radio is 90% community and 10% radio.
